The Hamptons, situated north of New York, is where the wealthy escape to the beach for summer. Hamptons style is defined as casual, relaxed beach living but done in a classic and very elegant way. The look is bright and sophisticated, featuring plain white walls, timber floors and a lot of vertical lines and columns. Traditionally, the balustrade on a Hampton house is made of timber and painted white.
It’s no surprise that this timeless architectural design has become increasingly popular in WA, and in particular- Perth! Hamptons’ understated elegance and relaxed decor has been influencing housing trends for over 50 years. Perth builders are seeing a recent shift in the market towards this style trend, and some are even displaying Hamptons style in their display homes.
However, timber balustrade requires a lot of maintenance, especially in the harsh Australian climate. Timber balustrades are more susceptible to the elements than other materials. This is particularly the case in coastal areas where the combination of salt and rain can have a more damaging effect. Timber can rot, warp, weather and crack and it needs to be regularly painted or varnished. In realising this, Absolute Balustrades decided to produce an aluminium alternative to the traditional Hamptons timber balustrade, which gave our clients the Hampton look they were after, but without the high maintenance costs associated with timber.
After extensive in-house R&D and quality testing, ABS manufactured a beautiful, durable powdercoated aluminium balustrade, designed to match the highly sought after Hampton style and meeting stringent Australian Standards and BCA codes. Aluminium requires little maintenance and its durability means it is suitable to all weather conditions.
